How can we help you?
Why Mediation Works
Conflict is complicated, dynamic and, often, messy and expensive. Mediation provides an opportunity to shift the conversation from argument and blame to focusing on what matters most and how to move forward. With the guidance of a neutral facilitator, mediation can provide a clear path forward when things feel stuck.
Mediation is rooted in four key principles that allow it to be an extremely effective approach to resolving conflict. Mediation is neutral, confidential, voluntary and the control of the outcomes is held by the parties.
Our Work in the Community
The Center supports individuals, families, and organizations through the following core initiatives:
Education & Training: Workshops, clinics, and skills training for students, professionals, and community members.
Mediation & Facilitation: Accessible services for families, neighbors, organizations, and community groups.
Outreach & Partnerships: Collaboration with local municipalities, schools, colleges & universities, nonprofits, courts, and local agencies to expand access and impact.
Big Ideas, Real Impact.
Through the dedication and support of many legacy volunteers, donors, team members, and community partners, community mediation has thrived in San Luis Obispo County for nearly four decades. As we work to establish the Center for Dispute Resolution at San Luis Obispo College of Law, every contribution has a significant impact on the sustainability of the new center. Thank you for your support!
